How summer flat batteries actually happen
People picture winter when a battery dies. Summer does it too, usually because of how the car is used in the heat, not the heat alone.
1. Full A/C plus short trips
Idling in traffic with A/C on, then parking after a few kilometres, uses more than it puts back. If most trips are short, a longer run now and then helps.
2. Low electrolyte on serviceable batteries
Fill-type batteries can lose fluid faster in heat. When the hood is open, check the level has not dropped near the min mark.
3. Dashcam parking mode
If the camera keeps recording after the engine is off, it keeps drawing power. Long parking days are worth a wiring and setting check.
4. Batteries older than three years
A tired battery can fail after one hot week. If you cannot remember the last change, we can read voltage at the next visit.
